weekend blogging

hey! this blog is not dead la. i think we have better posting frequency than winfred ( haha actually you're not as on about blogging as before, what happened ah)

ANYWAY

this weekend was quite fun. by weekend i mean including friday, so i can talk about dreamix, that concert that raffles rock put up. if you didnt go for it, which all of you didn't, actually its okay la, it wasn't super life changing or anything, but if you had gone, you would really have enjoyed it. EIC (siva's band) was great, and of course electrico was superb...haha btw their keyboardist, amanda ling was super hot in her army print calf length pants...hahaha all right...moving on, the rest of the night was pretty boring la. i only saw one rj band...the singer took 3 songs to warm up enough to start singing well...unfortunately they only did 3 songs so...but i missed the rugger band, i'm sure they were good....

on saturday there was youth avenue. for all of you unhappening peeps, it's some sort of pre-u seminar, but this time got ITE and poly students....so its not really pre-u. inthe words of one of the student facils, its goal is to "keep kids off the streets"....a little ambitious and dramatic, but, more power to them i guess...so saturday was basically like O nite last year, there was fashion parade, and of course every guy went up dressed as a girl...after that was the concert...eh gerbert! sean tseng performed! haha he and some others did you and me by lifehouse and tonight i wanna cry by keith urban...only people who watch american idol will know that second song...high five gerb, hammy....and whoever else watches

the real highlight was daphne khoo's band, west grand avenue...i've never heard them before, and i never thought much of daphne khoo before the concert, but yesterday i realised 2 things.
1. west grand avenue is actually a damn good band
2. daphnekhoo actually has a good body ...hahahaha
haaha, yea there were a lot of "i wanna marry you daphne"s being shouted by the crowd, cos she really did look damn good yesterday. i guess on the tv screen everyone looks ten times worse. if you guys dont believe me, go check out www.purevolume.com/westgrandavenue ...you can play some of the songs there...i think the best one was 5 minutes and one...the tune might be familiar...anyway the whole thing was a pretty cool affair...minister of education Tharman shanmugaratnam was there...i was watching him talk to reporters when leslie came from behind and decided to show tharman just how much of a man he was by GRINDING me in front of him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@#!$!#!@$!#!$!$!#!!$@#!
thankfully he didn't see.

haha....so hope you guys had a fun weekend....

Raffles Trail

Raffles Trail! it was indeed an exciting experience hahaha. my team comprised of me ryan xiutang tsai and onson(bballer)! Firstly we reported to the LT and got to know our first destination! Potong pasir cc! We were well equipped with our street directories and bus guides so we started planning our route. A pleasant surprise was that we were provided with food and drinks. fun buns! according to justin while eating them u'll have lotsa fun haha. Ok so we spent 1.5 hours planning our route..and after synchronising our watches..we trooped off to the mini square beside the parade square and awaited the start of our race! Ooh yes we got to see lee hsien loong flagging off at the start.haha excitment was in the air.and somehow we managed to be the first in line!

so the horn blew and off we sprinted to the 13 bus stop!! btw ryan helped xiutang carry her bag in his bag. good on ya mate! haha. winfred and team had pretty cool raffles flags painted on their faces hahaha.met them along halfway.they were going to raffles montessori..which we considered as our next destination but couldnt find it on the map.oh well lucky for them daozhe lived in the area and knew exactly where it was.thanks to hammy for his help anyway :) so 13 it was...and we stopped along with a bunch of rg girls..we stormed past the mrt station but thankfully took a look at the map there..which led us to the correct potong pasir cc.hahah believe it or not there are TWO potong pasir ccs!! -_- ok so we reached and did our task.which was throwing balls at this target..like darts..and accumulating points..pretty easy and we chionged to our next destination. raffles laselle international design school.

oh man what an irritating place. accoridng to the map it is near dhoby gaut mrt but when we reached we trekked up this really huge slope..near paradiz there.hahah and all in vain.after running..asking security guards...cab drivers..we still could not find it..in its place was this construction site..must have gotten the wrong destination! (i still cant find the correct destination in the street directory man!) then from up there..we walked down thru the construction!! it was quite cool going inside a building yet to be fully built hahaha.guess the irony was that the most reliable ppl who gave us great directions was the construction workers themselves..not saying that we should underestimate them though.ok so we burned about 30 min of our precious 4 hours in vain.feeling a little helpless we racked our brains and persevered on and went to smu instead!! good job team!

at smu we had to find this place called the lee kong chien business school. sth like that la. and i must say the ppl in smu know their campus really well they were able to direct us to the place easily.however the run was really quite far.and by the time we reached we were all sweating like mad.so our next task was this finding the key to this lock from a bunch of crushed up paper. that was done quickly! but the real task was this lock which needed a 3 digit combi.the clue was that the 3 digits added up to either 5,15 or 25. it being the 25th anniversary of sorts i thought that would have been the number.but apparently it wasnt..so after trying several combis..it proved to be in vain.jus when i was about to give up. i chanced upon this combination and it opened the lock!!! in my jubilation...i didnt even take note what the combi was...LOL! haha but that was really a rejoiceful moment so we set off to our next station. however we got a shock when we realised one of our important papers was missing!! so tsai ran back to check.but it could not be found.but in the end onson found it in his bag hahaha! that was quite funny. so anyway our next stop was fort canning.

we found the place relatively quickly!! haha reminded me of the destination for one of the amazing races in singapore..so our task there was to solve a few math equations.i only rmbed mine so here goes..can use bodmas..make the following into 25. 3 3 4 1 2. haha welll..for you readers out there it's 3*(3+4)+1+2!! hahah ok so our next destination was either raffles girls primary or toa payoh.ahhhh while we were waiting to cross to dhoby gaut mrt. bus 171 came!!! we could haf taken it to rgps..but the bus driver did not open for us :( hahaha.if only we had been more alert..the trip to rgps would have changed everything.cuz that station was worth 400 points!! thats alot relative to the total score. i mean the winners of the ipod video had 1900 plus points..so that's like one quarter of it.

we were supposed to find a bicycle parking space there..near the hdb hub.oh man we ran around a hell lot..sort of competing with the other groups who were there to reach the place first..but we all couldnt find it! turns out it was right in front of the mrt!!!! stupid us hahaha. oh well we had to find RAFFLES medical group..which thanks to tsai we found really easily. me and ryan overshot man! hahaa.next we had to find out the hp number of this xavier guy. took us 5 min. thanks to onson's contact with yacong we got his number easily!! our next stop was raffles place!

thankfully my phy tuition is there so im quite familiar with the place..and 3 weeks ago me and my tuition mates were looking for a place to eat and ventured to the octagonal courtyard..and then to laupasat!! haha our original intention was to go to the station at the courtyard.however we arrived too late..so we had to settle for the laupasat.there the task was to run around tapping numbers..pasted on trees dustbins,etc..to form a phone number the station master gave us. ryan did a hell lotta running around haha.on hindsight we should have taken turns to run! lol sorry ryan! good job anyway! :) by that time we had 30 min to get back to school.so we chionged to the mrt station and took a rest on our way back to bishan

we reached bishan mrt at 252 and started sprinting all the way back to school. we reached the traffic light at 255..and continued sprinting back.haha amazingly we managed to reach the finish line at 3pm on the dot!!!

hahah what a day it was for us. running around like mad dogs. sweating it out. missing lunch.. and although we did not win anything (ahhhh my IPOD VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!) im sure it was a GREAT experience for us!! well it definitely was for me! hahah it's super damn fun la. hope to take part in more of such events next time!! :):)

anyway congrats to jenhan and winfred for winning a krumpler and ipod nano respectively!

class outing tmr!! peace out!

raffles trail

ORA ystd was a pretty different experience for me. instead of milling around the booths like in the past years there was raffles trail! it was really fun and quite tiring. did lots of running and stair climbing and took the most number of train rides i have ever in a single day. though in the end we didnt manage to win (i think we came really close though) i honestly thought the experience was pretty worth it.nic was sulking about his lost ipod video for a while though :b haha.everyone ask jenny and winfred to treat the class cos they both won something!!

after that i joined wanying and zhern leing and we went for dinner at liang court.its perhaps like only the second time i have been there but the area seems really nice and beautiful and romantic(this is a TIP guys!) at night. and the jap restaurant we went to had pretty good ramen but the special pork cutlet was seriously good. i hate pork but even i have to admit it was damn delicious. prices are quite steep though so i dont think i will be able to go there often :( and now i am REALLY REALLY REALLY broke. so, i think i wont be able to go for class outing tmr due to financial constraints but everyone pls have fun!

school is getting really boring, i am on the verge of succumbing to depression. haha.

anyway we watched winfred play softball today and their opponents were really really outclassed. winfred touched the ball like twice during the entire match lah, and that was because he did not even need to. but still, he looked quite pro. hasu was saying that they should let the rjc girls team pitch instead for a more even match.

hopefully, life would be more interesting, and i am no life-ing around again by posting this.
(i think ace will be out for american idol)
(hammy rocks)

NS medical checkup

For those who didn't know, i didn't go school on friday cuz i went for ns medical checkup. Ok this post is to give u guys a heads up of what it's like.

Once u reach there u gotta wait for like 15 min longer than ur appointment time even though they told u to be punctual! haha suckers. ok so first station.

Officer : Take one bottle take one stick..instructions are in the toilet.

We were all stunned but went into the toilet anyway hahah. So we found out we gotta pee into the bottle..which is really weird cuz it's really small.then dip the stick inside. it's like some indicator test. haha so after doing so u go out and..

Officer : Show me your colour

hahaha he repeated this line like countless times la. what a boring job he has. next up was the blood test. "oh yes..there will be blood" (saw2) hahah first up is the finger prick test. no biggie la just some small lil poke on ur middle finger. it's some haemoglobin test if im not wrong. next is the bigger needle..into ur vein at the elbow there haha.nothing much but they stick it in for like..more than 5 seconds haha. and u can see the blood being drawn up. pretty cool.

station 2 : dental

ok they'll examine ur teeth. no biggie. but for me i think i had missing teeth or no missing teeth and they wanted to do some forensic study so i had to do an x ray for my jaw -_- hahah.

station 3 : eye check up

they'll ask for left handers..yes eric i think u fall under that category..ok actually im not that sure. cuz they were asking "any lefthanders"..so i raised my hand..then on second thoughts i was wondering why they needed to know..so i just told them i do everything else with my right hand except writing..then they ask.."so u prefer to hold gun with which hand" ok so that's why they asked haha. ok so basically for those who wear specs they'll ask u to wear ur specs and read the usual stuff. nothing much here

station 4 : chest x ray

basically u go topless and put ur chest against some cushion thingy then u breathe in and they take an x ray. nothing much here.

station 5 : hearing test

u go into a soundproof room and put on earphones..and they'll play sounds of different frequencies and u hafta raise ur hand according to which ear u hear it from. basically from the outside u'll look like retards trying to act like spiderman climbing a wall hahaha.

station 6 : hohoho

the one u all haf been waiting for..it's the physical check up station.. so basically u enter a room full of topless guys..and then the first part u have to lie on some bed and they'll put suction cups on u duno for what. after that is height and weight where they'll ask u whether u smoke. btw im officially 166 hahaha. then is the MOMENT..hehe u get a queue no. and await going into a room for the full strip. basically u stand abt 3m from the guy and u take off ur pants and u cough..then u put them back on hahaha. that's abt it. not too embarassing at all actually.and they tell u where ure provisionally posted. i got posted to pes b ahhh..cuz i haf a slightly crooked spine -_- lames. oh well.

station 7 : the worse station of all

it's the computer test..basically ure stuck here for like 1hr 45 min la..sucks big time. u do test after test after test..maths..figures...physics..patterns..that's about it la. but it's really non stop. and u duno how many tests u gotta do..so be prepared to be stuck there for quite some time.

so in total u'll be there for abt 4 hours hahaha.well..u all shld really go as a group if not it'll be super duper boring..fortunately i made a fren there and we chatted our way through the boredom heh.

have fun at the checkup! :) btw it's at depot road. hmm can take 195 from queensway mrt then walk.

napfa!

okie now its MY turn to blog!

as everyone knows, napfa is coming YAY:( n as alllll e girls n most of e guys (since they were laughing at me on fri) know, i am so going to fail it cos i cant do ipull!! according to some nice guy whom i think is gerbert, i "cant even HANG!":D BUT i have decided tt i DONT WANT to fail napfa cos according to e pe teachers, if u fail napfa, u have to do physical stuff ie run like mad while everyone else is happily playing games! hearing this, i immediately decided to embark on a "i must do 3 ipulls" mission! so let me update u on wad im currently doing haha

1) do alot alot alot of push ups everyday. everytime im bored after my cross-stitching (which i have thankfully finished) or frm my endless mugging, i go do push ups!!

2) go swimming! haha since i love swimming, this isnt really a tough thing..jus finished swimming jus now! n its really wierd tt i can swim non stop for more than an hr but when i run for like more den 2 minutes i get tired:X n swimming is good! swimming not only works out ur arms n legs, it also helps ur TUMMY HAHA:D

3) practise ipulls at home!! ever since i found out tt e bar on top of my toilet door is actually a PULL UP BAR!!, ive been dilligently doing ipulls!! haha in case everyone's wondering how do u do ipull on a PULL UP BAR??, theres actually a table in frnt onf e toilet door so i put my legs on e table HAHA:p though i think my mum's not too happy w it:p

YAY i feel like a healthy girl now hoho..n after all e hard work im putting in, i BETTER PASS MY NAPFA!!! boohoo i really only wanna pass, jus let me be able to do my 3ipulls can???:(

of love and science

hey guys, i'm here to relieve the blogging duties of fajoo and gerbert. okay and zhu. haha

hmm... decided to blog 'cos we were having a very very interesting conversation yesterday on our way to henderson's. for the ill-informed, henderson's is the student care centre jilyn and i go to do CIP every friday. yup, so we meaning us + guanghao + siangee + grace [chiobu from arts (:]

so anyway, lemme introduce the main character. siangee, as gerb and hasu will know from the Laos trip. he's a Malaysian scholar who is really really nice, really really helpful, and also really really SCIENCE. yea so we were just talking about relationships and whether we were gonna get married and stuff. so siangee proclaimed that he probably wasn't gonna get married 'cos the idea of it doesn't appeal to him and he thinks that he can do more meaningful things with the time commited to the marriage. yup, that's all well and fine since everyone's entitled to their life goals.

then he told us about his theory of how science can actually be applied to love.

1. The Collision Theory

One of the most stable theories in the Physical Sciences is the Collisional Theory of Reaction Rates. According to this theory, product formation can only take place when there are "effective" collisions between reactant molecules involved in the rate determining step of the process. Simply having reactant molecules colliding is necessary but not sufficient in itself. The collisions have to be effective.

What constitutes an effective collision?
In order for a molecular collision to be effective it must meet two conditions:

  1. The collision must have sufficient enough impact energy to overcome the Activation Energy.
  2. The molecules must have a proper positioning for effective collisions to occur

sourcehttp://members.aol.com/logan20/ratetheo.html

in siangee's words, like 2 molecules, it's not sufficient for 2 people to just meet in order for sparks to occur. they have to be able to overcome the ACTIVATION ENERGY first, which may take any form at all. like parental consent, same religion yadda yadda. and even if all the circumstantial factors are favourable, it doesn't mean that a reaction will occur because there's still condition no. 2 to take care off. 2 people, even if they are right for each other, have to meet at the right time for anything to happen. yup, so the collision theory is in fact applicable in this aspect. afterall..... you and i COLLIDE

2. Le Chatelier's Principle

Basically, in accordance to Le Chatelier's Principle, when one party (like one side of the equation) is too hiong, the other party will resist and push back. Like the line from Britney Spears' Sometimes 'cos everytime you come to close i move away. However, if the one side is too passive, the other person has to be more pro-active in order for a dynamic equilibrium to be reached.

yep, so this is something interesting we thought we'd share with y'all. when siangee was explaining his theories we were all stunned like how does anyone uses scientific principles to explain such things. but we all found it really amusing yet true at the same time.

so anyway, have fun during the weekends. remember to sign up for SATs if u havent alrdy. deadline's 3 april. and lucks to all econs s pple with the -bleagh- belgium road pricing assignment.
