feelings

wow
a long time since i last blogged, hardly had time with all those things going on

during the hols(seems so long ago right?) my CIP programme finally ended. For the uninformed, its basically 60 hours of work with a family centre, primarily working with kids. (the one i kbed abt some time back)
basically it was a 2 day science enrichment thing from 9 to 530. We would spend the day trying to teach kids abt science which is quite hard cos they range from p1 to p6.
and many funny things happened

1. we were teaching them about the features of living things and how to classify them. and the kids kept on thinking "features" was "feathers".

2. we were playing 20 questions (asking 20 yes no questions to guess a living thing)
and the first question they would ask will be things like

does it have horns?
is it an elephant?
does it have 3 legs? (yes, i know like wth?)

3. during hangman we would give a 5 letter word with the clue being a vehicle
and a kid will go: "I know!!!!! helicopter!!!"

Haha really quite funny and quite too lah must admit. Some of the kids we hardly know (we only tutor some of them) would still like be really friendly and always talk to us.
During my time as a tutor, i tutored 2 kids. the first one was some pri 2 boy who knew like everything and he was like the band 1 kind of student, but asked really weird questions? like how heavy is the anchor of the ship?
but somehow cos he was zai, he kinda graduated and some new p2 kid came along.
this was one super hyper and was smart but he could not sit still so when he would do work super quickly and run around, making many many careless mistakes. and also a few others i took over from other ppl.

looking back, even though sometimes their inability to sit on a chair for longer than 3 mins would be quite pissing(hahah, yes?) . But i think we made a impact on them and we did help them. When we went in march, we had not seen them since mid december, but still each one of them could remember quite a number our names. and sometimes when one of them asks "why are you all not coming alrdy" it makes you feel quite sad.

not much of an emo person, but i am glad i made a difference.

also in my hols was a dreaded 2 days of srp (in addition to the ssef)in NUS high which is ultra far away. Thurs was spent on judging where i had same judge as my ssef one (supposedly the ngeow one too) but it was not too bad and it was more of the discussion rather than a direct q and a. dint win, of course
the next day there was a 2 hr long talk from various ppl. aronglin claimed i slept for 1hr and 40 min and was rolling about my chair. Hahaa, i did not even see the 2nd and 3rd speaker lah, they spoke and left w/o me knowing.

wah, see how burnt out my hols were.

Then on sat, i tried to salvage as much as i could for CTs and really tried hard esp from sat to wed to study. But i dont really think i did work out like i want it to. quite disappointed in myself actually.

Ice skating on fri was totally retarded. its like 10 bucks to fall down, not good. I would never ice skate again man, never. It was a comedy of errors and oh man oh man, dont ask me abt it...

and today y2k returned chem, omg our class was owned badly. never quite expected this fall from grace. maybe becos we thought that just becos our class was slacking, the whole school was slacking, which turned out to be wrong. sigh. our chem , like most faces, needs work...
some inspirational quotes from animal farm
"i will work harder"
"Y2K is always right" hahah
