Bodytalk
First and foremost i'd like to apologise to hammy for koping his 100 plus and laughing during his 'bone cramp' lol! I do agree it is quite mean yet funny at the same time. Anyway GP exam today was ok i guess. Not expecting much although i hope to do better than previous times, i.e. pass. A 60 would really be a miracle. Well the passage was pretty dry for me i must say. I think interest plays a part in comprehending the passage. If it is too boring a topic, you will not be able to fully understand and relate to the passage.
Tmr is civics which will be IHC closing ceremony. I miss bodytalk haha. I do have to admit that bodytalk is really interesting. This reminds me of my explanation for 'dialogue' which i hope is correct hahaha. Well bodytalk essentially represents a 'dialogue' between people. An unspoken one at that. Hence our bodytalk modules seeks to help us intepret body language more accurately! A question that came to my mind was... If we could use this information to manipulate and control our body actions to portray the person we want others to see, then won't we degenerate to being mere actors in our lives? Acting out whoever we want to be. Which brings me to the question.. who are we? What is our true self? Is there such thing as a TRUE self? If there was then why do people try to change themselves? Afterall, even if they do manage to change, they are not being their TRUE selves. Ok i might seem like im talking nonsense but that's because i can't quite "categorise my thoughts" either due to lack of time/never memorise poetry (doesn't this ring an awful bell?)
Perhaps it is a form of adaptation. We assume different personalities when dealing with different people/situations. One might argue that this means being a two-faced hypocrite. However, don't you think that if the two personalities are not too starking in contrast, then it would still be viewed as our original character? For those who caught "catch me if you can", you would have seen the mastery of deception displayed by frank abagnale junior. He truly impressed me with his knowledge of the art of deception hahaha and is someone i sort of idolise. I have always found the art of deception intriguing. A form of disguise to hide your true self, normally associated with people who are uncomfortable with revealing their actual personalities. Either they're suffering from some weird disorder or they just have low self esteem? Anyway back to the topic..when do we draw the line?
My take is that...we all get to choose who we want to be. There is no right or wrong. True self is defined as what we want to see ourselves as. Anything done that makes us feel uncomfortable would indicate a deviation from true self because we should be comfortable with what we want to see ourselves as. So long we are comfortable with who we are, then i guess it justifies that we are not living a lie.
I leave all of you a quote from the talented mr. ripley
"It's better to be a real nobody than a fake somebody"
so let's all be comfortable with who we are and live life to our fullest!! (fajoo and tsai have no problem with that since they indulge in food so much hehehe)
