The Changing Tides
My apologies for the first half of the post…. Just feel the need to comment on certain things after my long and hellish weeks.
Isn’t it ironic how we keep criticizing what we initially have only to discover that is what we really want? Not too long ago, (and it still is the case now), our education system has been criticized for churning out scores of graduates who are learned in theories and efficient to a fault, but are lacking in creativity and finesse. Thus, various changes have been implemented at the primary, secondary and tertiary level to remedy this problem. Central to all these changes would be the American-style of ‘broad-based and holistic’ education aimed at promoting the all rounder, and this approach involved, among other things, endless projects and less rote-learning.
So after several years of touting this ‘unique’ pedagogy, the education system is ready for the final assessment by the employers. The new breed of graduates arrive in the workplace in fine packaging and form, ready to ascend to the role of a dynamic manager that was so unsatisfactorily performed by their predecessors. But what do their employers say? “Oh, they’re fine in form, but they lack the theories.” Which simply begs the question of what’s the point really? Why go one big round only to discover what we needed was what we had all along…
Okay, enough ranting for now.
On a more important note, I was thinking of having another Halloween party this year. But many of you have said that you will not be dressing up, so I’m wondering if the party would be as fun like that. And if so, should we still have a party? Anyway, comment please on the subject. If you people really do want the party, then comment even faster. I need to book the function room by Monday latest.
P.S: it’s okay if you get last minute confinement and cannot make it even if you said you are coming initially, coz I’m just going to order pizza for the party for convenience’s sake.
P.P.S.: sorry for the short window period to express your views. Was busy before this.
